Shaw has implemented a new "service" that when a non-existent url is visited it will redirect you to a page that has paid advertising all over it. I have a real problem with shaw making money off of its customers with advertising when we pay more for our internet then any other country in the world.
Stop using Shaw's dns servers and change to opendns servers. ( 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 )
Ensure you opt out of this new "service" and encourage others to as well. ( http://nxr.shaw.ca )
What Is This Service?
When a non-existent web address is typed into a browser, a built-in error message is displayed. This service is designed to help guide you to a useful search page ( Paid Advertising ) that has a list of recommended sites ( Paid Advertising ) that come close to matching the original web address that did not exist.
If you are a residential or commercial Internet subscriber, please click here to be removed from this service.
Otherwise, you can continue to the search ( Paid Advertising ) page.
